We know it can be a little scary to see applications requesting permission to access areas of your device functionality, so we’re trying to be as transparent as possible. Here are some answers to common questions about what we do with these permissions:
YOUR ACCOUNTS: We need access to the account associated with your device so that we can send you push notifications.
SYSTEM TOOLS: This allows us to wake up the device in order to send you notifications. The device will return to sleep mode automatically.
LOCATION: We surface more relevant search results to you based on your location.
NETWORK COMMUNICATION: Share items with friends or good looking strangers using NFC. Just enable NFC in your device settings, then hold your phone up to someone else’s and “Beam” your item to them!
CAMERA: Allows you to scan barcodes for comparison shopping or to start a new listing, to take photos of an item you’re listing, and to attach photos to an eBay message.
