Eltech’s ExaGear Strategies is one of the most impressive apps we’ve reviewed so far. It lays out a simple premise: it can run PC games on your Android smartphone/tablet. Not ports of PC games but the PC game itself, right from you C:\Program Files\ folder.
You may ask… How is that even possible? Hard to believe but, dude, I’ve seen it with my eyes. The procedure instructions are pretty clear. Download and install ExaGear Strategies. Install a licensed game on your PC. Once finished, copy the game‘s installation folder (where there’s the game.exe) into ExaGear’s folder in your Android’s SDcard. Launch ExaGear Strategies from the app drawer.
Voilà! Watch the magic flow. The game will run seamlessly.
Unfortunately, as usual with all those hard-to-believe-fantastic-things there’s a BUT. ExaGear Strategies may only run five titles at this time: Heroes of Might and Magic I, II and III, Civilization 3 and Disciples 2. Old installments of a best-seller sagas. You can get them from GOG.com. We’ve tested them in a Nexus 7 2012 and they run wonderfully.
ExaGear Strategies’ app concept has a lot of potential since it lays out a straightforward way to emulate PC games on Android devices. However, in order to be viable it should support a huge catalog of games. I know that’s not an easy quest to fulfill… But it’s the only way to make it explode.
